1986 review of "worldbroken" (blatch)

The music on this record was entirely improvised in June of 1985 in Santa Monica, while Jack Brewer I think wrote most of the words beforehand. Every component of this record is perfect to me-- drummer Tony Cicero has improved since the last Sach. Trust record, and he was no slouch then;   Joe Baiza has always been great, and here we get a chance to hear him jamming his hands off;  Mike Watt is probably my favorite bass player to listen to ever; Jack Brewer's words and delivery get better with time as well. He is usually challenging and far-reaching with his stuff. Put all these things together and you got one hell of a record, with cool graphic execution on the cover to boot. The Sachs have a habit of using real vague colors on their covers, god what color is that? This is the kind of thing you (I at least) can put on over and over and not get tired of it. Works far better than the October Faction LP, which also was improvised-- more of a free-form jazz thing as opposed to a full-bore freak out.
